You Don’t Need to Be a Perfume Expert

Creating a fragrance can sound complicated, but it doesn’t have to be.

You don’t need to know the difference between top, middle and base notes. You don’t need to know the names of individual fragrance ingredients. And you certainly don’t need to be a perfumer.

You simply need to know what kind of fragrance appeals to you.

The process begins by choosing one fragrance direction from our collection of moods.

This is important: you are not choosing three completely different perfumes.

Instead, we create three complementary interpretations of the same overall fragrance direction.

For example, if you choose Quiet Luxury, your three fragrances may explore different expressions of that feeling:

Your 3 × 10 ml Custom Fragrance Discovery Set

Your custom fragrance journey begins with a 3 × 10 ml Discovery Set.

Each 10 ml fragrance is created within your selected fragrance direction, giving you three different interpretations to explore.

You can wear them, live with them and see how they develop over time.

Sometimes the fragrance you immediately love is still the one you love after wearing it for several hours. Sometimes another fragrance surprises you once it has had time to develop.

That’s why experiencing the fragrances yourself is such an important part of the process.

Variation 01 — First Interpretation

A fresh interpretation of your chosen fragrance direction.

Variation 02 — Second Interpretation

A different expression of the same fragrance direction.

Variation 03 — Third Interpretation

A deeper or richer interpretation of the same overall style.

The Discovery Set is currently R300 for 3 × 10 ml fragrances.

Fragrance is personal.

What smells beautiful to one person may not be the right fragrance for another. Even within the same fragrance family, small differences in balance and character can completely change how a perfume feels.

That’s why we don’t expect you to make your decision simply by reading a description.

Your Discovery Set gives you the opportunity to actually experience the fragrances.

Try them on your skin. Allow them to develop. Compare the three variations.

Then decide which direction feels right for you.

What If You Would Like to Change the Fragrance?

Sometimes you may love the overall direction but feel that one of the fragrances could be slightly different.

That’s perfectly fine.

Custom fragrance creation can involve refinement.

Once you have received your Discovery Set and had an opportunity to experience the fragrances, you can let us know if you would like an adjustment.

We can fine-tune the fragrance and prepare a revised sample for you to evaluate.

There is no additional fragrance-development charge for this adjustment. You would only cover the courier cost for sending the revised sample to you.

Our aim is to help you arrive at a fragrance that you are genuinely happy with—not simply the first version that comes out of the process.

Allowing Time for Your Fragrance to Develop

Creating a custom fragrance takes time. We don’t rush the process, because fragrance can change as it settles and matures.

Once a fragrance has been blended, it needs time to macerate and develop. This allows the different fragrance components to settle and integrate, giving us a better representation of how the finished fragrance will smell.

For custom fragrance development, please allow approximately 2–6 weeks for the initial fragrance development, maceration and any necessary refinement.

If you request a tweak after receiving your Discovery Set, additional time may be needed to make the adjustment, allow the revised fragrance to macerate and then prepare it for dispatch.

We believe it is worth allowing the fragrance the time it needs rather than rushing the process. The goal is to send you a fragrance that has been properly developed, rather than one that has simply been mixed and sent out.
